Community Votes on Olympic Proposal
On November 4th the community voted on a proposal that was put forward by The Look Company to build an Indoor Soccer Dome on IR 10 Lands which woudl serve as a cultural tourism pavillion during the 2010 Olympic Games and then remain in the community as a legacy building providing sheltered recreation opportunities for youth. The proposal was rejected in a 217 to 108 vote due to the short timelines and concerns about the budget. The Look Company continues working with Chief and Council to develop a new proposal for Lil’wat’s participation in regional Olympic events during February.
