lil'wat nationThere are many definitions of what it means to be a Leader. In Lil’wat there are Political Leaders, Community Leaders, Elders and Youth Leaders and the everyday Leaders of our families, our homes and our places of employment.

In times past the Lil’wat recognized hereditary clan Chiefs and turned to their Elders for guidance. Medicine men practiced ancient, sacred rituals and helped the community to find food, shelter and peace.

Today the Lil’wat Nation is governed by an elected Council of 12 which is led by one elected Chief. Elders, family heads and decendents of the Shaman are still looked to for advice and guidance and others in our community are taking leadership roles in their work.
